On Saturday, March 27th, 2021, the Brevard County JROTC programs had their first Drill and Ceremony competition. Battalions from across the county participated in this competition, competing in exhibition, color guards, and other teams. The Viera Hawk Battalion participated in the color guard and unarmed mixed squad events and performed exceptionally well, placing 4th and 3rd respectively. The color guard team consisted of Cadets Bernstein, Pantoja, Espling, and Utarte. Unarmed mixed squad consisted of Cadets Roscoe, Kodsi, Mora, Daily, Brown, Nadjuch, Burrs, and Spivey; commanded by Cadet Yuhas. Congratulations to these Cadets on their performance. Their hard work and dedication to the team are to be greatly admired.

Just before spring break, Viera JROTC had its very first “Organization Week”. In an effort to reconcile the loss of “Organization Day” due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Hawk Battalion’s Chain of Command developed an “Organization Week”. Instead of one day of activity there was a day dedicated to one event in each period. The events in order started with a cadet challenge event, followed by a JLAB jeopardy and kahoot event. Wednesday was a strict uniform grading and Thursday was a drill sequence performance. Friday was the day of celebration in which each company had a Chick-fil-a lunch. Congratulations to Echo “Epidemics” Company as they were announced as 2020-2021’s Honor Company.
Thank you to all the companies for making the best out of what was provided instead of “Organization Day.” A special shout-out and thank you to our Booster Club for their unwavering support and dedication to the happiness of our Cadets and the success of our program. |
