On Saturday, September 24th, our Hawk Battalion Honor Guard went up to Titusville's Warbird Museum to support the fundraiser event hosted by "Life Recaptured", a nonprofit support organization. At the "Second Annual Life Recaptured Gala", Life Recaptured successfully raises awareness towards the fight against sex trafficking while also fundraising for the restoration of those impacted. Thank you to all of the organizations that assisted in making the formal event truly spectacular, and to our Honor Guard consisting of Deforest, Orlandi, Stevenson and Walter! On Friday, September 16th, our Viera Hawk Battalion was able to host a halftime ceremony in honor of veterans, and first responders that lost their lives due to the 9/11 attacks. Honoring the veterans was our Hawk Battalion, all 103 cadets, with the color guard consisting of Adam Deforest, Maddison Orlandi, Brennon Curtis and Ian Stevenson. Some highlights of the ceremony was the Helicopter Fly Over as the game started, the support of the Brevard Fire Department in flying the American Flag above the field, the Veteran Participation during the football game’s halftime, the playing of Taps to honor fallen veterans and first responders, with a moment of silence afterwards. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this Veteran Ceremony truly remarkable and momentous!
On June 4th, our Viera High School SAI, Lieutenant Colonel Tim Thomas (retd.), participated in the Annual Brevard County Fundraiser, "Dancing for the Space Coast". In doing so, he not only preformed as a 2022 Dancer, dancing to both "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood and "R.O.C.K in the U.S.A" by John Mellencamp with fellow dancer Heidi Arnold, but the duo also succeeded in being the "Grand Champion" of 2022's Dancing for the Space Coast! Exceptional job to not only LTC Tim Thomas and Heidi Arnold for their astonishing performance, but to the Color Guard that attended, consisting of Devoid and Stevenson!
Our Color Guard had participated on May 24th at the Congressional Medal of Merit Ceremony to represent Congressman Bill Posey! Thank you to our cadets Curtis, Deforest, Orlandi and Roscoe for your phenomenal Color Guard presentation! Our Honor Guard Cadets, Deforest, Devoid, Hafele, Orlandi, Roscoe, and Wildman assisted the Chick-Fil-A hosted "Miitary Appreciation Night" on June 1st! We appreciate all of the Cadets that helped the Veteran Chick-Fil-A giveaway!
Organization day 2022 was a smashing success! Companies competed amongst each other in four main events: Raider challenge, dodgeball, drill, and pork chop. Cadets utilize teamwork, team spirit, motivation, and strategy to complete each event in the hopes of leading their company to victory.
Although the weather took a turn for the worst when lightning brought the competition to a halt, cadets demonstrated flexibility and patience in the rain delay. At the end of the day, Foxtrot company earned the title of honor company 2022! Congratulations to all our cadets who gave this competition their all. Thank you to our booster club who assisted with lunch. A big thank you to our battalion staff, who tirelessly planned this event for months in advance, provided water and snacks for cadets, and conducted this annual event with numerous obstacles to overcome. |
